Knights of the Lunch Table #2

Author/illustrator: Frank Cammuso

Publisher: Scholastic, Inc.

This time, The Knights have to build a dragon to fight against The Horde to win $300 to fix Principal Dagger's windshield.  The bowling ball was on the see-saw, The Horde jumped on the other end, and it went flying. So now they have to fix her windshield.  They build a dragon robot to fight The Horde's dragon.

My favorite part was when they had the robot battle.  I liked the first book better because it was more fascinating and had more adventure.  If the author writes another one, I will read it, though.

Into the Volcano

Author/illustrator: Don Wood

Publisher: The Blue Sky Press

Two little boys go to visit their aunt on an island where there is a volcano.  It is very strange there because they are in a jungle with spiders and stuff.  They go with their cousins and some other friends to the volcano.  They go into the volcano, and they find a little village.  They find out their mom, who was a scientist, used to live in that village and she had found some special crystals.  The brothers had a lot of adventures, like falling into cracks and swimming in blue lagoons.  One of the brothers gets hurt and their mom helps heal him with the crystals. And then they all escape from the volcano in a boat.

I liked that they were in a volcano because it was kind of an adventure.  My favorite part was when they found out the island they were visiting was special, because it had NO SCHOOLS! That would be awesome.  My least favorite part was when one of the brothers got hurt because it was kind of sad.  I would recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure because it is exciting.

Kit Feeny #1 and #2

Author/illustrator: Michael Townsend

Publisher: Alfred A. Knopf

Kit Feeny moved away from his best friend and he tried to take his best friend with him but it didn't work because his best friend needed to go to the bathroom.  He met a guy on the bus on the way to his new school but a bully was there, too.  He struggles in school and has trouble with the bully.  He misses his best friend but then he comes up with jokes for the bully and the bully becomes his friend.

I liked the part where Kit became friends with the bully.  It was a funny story. I didn't like that his sisters were mean to him because I have trouble with my brothers, too.  I would recommend this book to anyone who has to move to a new school.

This one was about Kit trying to make a birthday present for his mom.  He was treasure-hunting with his friend to see if he could find treasure to give to his mom, but then he got more friends to help.  They tried to help him buy a necklace for her, but they don't have enough money.  Then Kit tries to make a necklace out of rope, chains and some "gizmos" (that's what Kit says).  He makes a big necklace and when he gives it to his mom, she likes it.

I didn't like that his sisters bragged about getting a better present. His sisters are annoying.  I liked that he was creative by making his own necklace out of stuff he already had.  I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to laugh, and I hope the author writes more stories about Kit Feeny.
